Kitty hat!
Since Junior is always pretending to be a kitty, he got a simple kitty hat for his birthday.
It wasn't too hard - two measurements, 1 rectangle of fleece, two seams, and a bit of trim to make it fancy.
After she saw it, Snurf wanted one, too. It took me a whole 15 minutes to put another one together, and it was that long only because I had to change my bobbin thread!
Now there's two kitties in my house!

Penguin hitchhiker
Here's today's project - a penguin rubber stamp and logbook - for tomorrow's letterboxing outing. The penguin was inspired by a school assignment. A co-worker brought his son's plush penguin to work for us to take on vacations all over the country. I took pictures of that plush all over Germany and thought it was so much fun. This little guy will be traveling from letterbox to letterbox, hopefully checking in with us from time to time.

Here is where it all begins.... kind of
So... this is my test post, to see how the blog works. Somewhere down the road, I'll be adding backdated entries to document some of my craft projects, but for now, this is all I have.

Carving project - family letterboxing stamps
Over the past year, the family has taken up the hobby of letterboxing. The adults get to exercise their minds on the clues and their bodies with the hiking. The kids get to learn how to follow directions and use a compass. Best of all, everyone gets a reward for doing it - a new stamp in our log book. The family goes by the trail name of "Scattered Showers", so I carved a weather-related stamp for each member of the family.
These stamps are fairly large (1" x 2" each) and a bit cumbersome for stamping, so smaller versions may be coming in the future.

Sewing project - Happy zippered pouch
Eager to make something with bright colors and inspired by projects on Craftster.org, I found this fabric in the remnant bin at the local JoAnn's Fabric store. They're fairly easy to make and incredibly useful. I have one in my purse to hold all sorts of little things and another one for my iPod and accessories.
